And again odd with the Garden Village on the bottom blind - I always thought that display didn't exist and Stocksbridge locals showed 'Blank' CITY is corrected on the 1970 blind. As for GARDEN VILLAGE, in the official staff instruction book, service 66 is required to display a blank, but I know of at least one photo that has this displayed. Should have mentioned that CLIPPER was added to the 1968 blind to all dual door swifts. Also, Sheffield Transport insisted that the early dual door Atlanteans at Herries be only used on the 'b' rota work. In their early years, they didn't see much use on City work. I was on a 76 once at Lane Top (which could be displayed) and the conductor was looking for LOW EDGES which isn't there - and after much cursing, he couldn't understand why - of course the small youth could have told him as a Herries bus on an EB working, it wouldn't have it on.......but he probably would have told me to practice sex and travel!

Great slice of history once again, brownncream. Thanks for sharing this.
On the 1968 blind, a surprise to see Barrow Hill included on a Sheffield blind. What routes served Barrow Hill in those days? I can only remember the old 55/55A/56 but these were East Midlands from the 1980s.

Old service 99, but STD did a number of trips on East Midland's services in Chesterfield (the old 9/59) and in return, East Midland did some trips to Eckington and Killamarsh from Sheffield. A throw back from the old SJOC days but lasted into SYPTE days.

Once again a very good and detailed list. Just wondering, do you have any blinds from Bootham Lane or Leicester Avenue depots prior to 1990?
Many Thanks.

I do have a minibus and beaver blind for 1991. I wasn't going to post it, as I know a lot of people on this forum dislike minis, but will post them both at the end. I have just be rereading this fascinating thread and was wondering if you could post these mini blinds please?

This might just be a good place to get some info about the only blind I have in my collection. Does anyone have any idea about the likely date?
On the back it has "B" TOP. BL. LN. L. RD., GN. RD.
Am I right in thinking that it is the top blind for a B fleet bus at Leadmill Road and Greenland Road?
Some of the destinations are two lines, and hence in a smaller font.

It should also have a date stamp, but would have been before 1969. I think I have already posted this one, but could be wrong. I do have a number of others to post, and when I get time I will. Could the mods put this thread as a seperate part of the site? It's a good resource, but keeps getting lost - even I had to ask somebody to send me the link!

Thanks for that, brownncream, and you are right about how hard this thread was to find.
Unfortunately there is no date stamp, which is one of the reasons why I posted the info. The top B blind you posted is similar, but has more destinations than this one.
Of note is the spelling Mosbrough: this seems to have been a variable thing over the years. In the October 1961 timetable it was Mosborough, by 1968 it had become Mosbrough in the timetable, and by 1970 it was back to Mosborough.

...i once heard that the Sheff Transport blinds had their own style font. Is this true or is the font named and available to download to help all us Sheff bus modellers ?

I've never found a version - only thing to do is use Old Johnston or Gill and hand modify the letters, especially the 'W'.
