Pumping Station is at Mowbray Street and was the terminus for the 37/38.

I've got a question ... why did Thorpe Hesley always get abbreviated to Thorpe?

Here's a 1959 to 1969 A blind from Sheffield:
SHEFFIELD TRANSPORT A BLIND (TOWNHEAD STREET & HERRIES)

Points to mention on this one. Introduced in 1959, this blind survived, with amendments, until 1969 and was for Townhead Street and Herries.
On the top NETHERSHIRE LANE is on for service 2/3. The CITY VIA is interesting, as it has the potential to be paired with numerous other destinations, although the only photo I've ever seen, is it paired with BROCCO BANK. NETHER EDGE was for service 98 that use to termintae by running around the loop at the bottom end of Machon Bank. HOWBROOK was served by certan High Green buses (eventually extended to Thurgoland). DERWENT was for the old 47/139.
On the bottom, VIA LONGLEY LANE was for the 97/98 (todays 20) to show route towards Southey Green. SICEY AVENUE/BELLHOUSE ROAD was for the old 150/151 (todays 47/48) to show travel around the loop. DYKES HALL ROAD is for terminating journeys onthe old 18/35, HAWKE STREET for short runners on the works services, GREENLAND ROAD is for fininshing trips on the 2/3 (funny GR never had any main workings, and this useful destination was axed in 1969), LEEDS and BRADFORD are on for the old 65/66/67 together with BARNSLEY and WOMBWELL which were operated from these two garages at this time.
VIA CHARLTONBROOK and GRENOSIDE VILL are for the old High Green services (GRENOSIDE was used for terminating journeys on 91/98) nd WHARNCLIFFE SIDE makes an interesting show - probably for shorts on the 57.
SPORTSMAN INN is for short workings on the 7/88 and lastly DUPLICATE - nothing ever lasts long on STD blinds, and this was axed in the 60's.

Thats a very interesting blind, quite shocked at the ammount of destinations which are in Rotherham such as Herringthorpe Valley Road and Canklow to say it was Townhead and Herries garages.
Was Templeborough the old bus turning circle on the Sheffield/Rotherham border opposite Magna where the Burger Van is usually parked in now?

Was Templeborough the old bus turning circle on the Sheffield/Rotherham border opposite Magna where the Burger Van is usually parked in now? Remember that Townhead St was the main C fleet and partly B fleet depot for SJOC so the amount of stuff in Rotherham - B fleet was about right. Beuchief intreges me was it for shorts on Totleys or was it for a proposed new route to replace the trams Very Intresing - is it time to go up to the loft ?

Didn't the 17 go to Beauchief before becoming the Totley Brook service in later years? Would have been in this sort of era.

Unfortunately I don't know (it's the same mystery to me as where the later SYPTE 26 C0ty - Beauchief used to turn round). My driver/conductor working instructions book from the early 70s is still in Sheffield.

I could be wrong, but I thought the 26 turned at the junction of Abbey Lane/ Bocking Lane (and had an evening/ sunday service 37 over that stretch of Abbey Lane, which continued to Batemoor)?

17 used to turn in a one way loop via Hutcliffe Wood, with a time point at Folds Lane.
26 turned in turning circle outside the cemetery gates.
Hopefully a Y type blind on Monday.

Thanks again brownncream for the B blind. Nice to see Eckington featured. Just a query though, I notice that Ridgeway and Ford are on the bottom blind but what were the services that served these two destinations?

Thanks again brownncream for the B blind. Nice to see Eckington featured. Just a query though, I notice that Ridgeway and Ford are on the bottom blind but what were the services that served these two destinations? Service 99 (that became East Midland services 55/55A) to answer that one. A Y type blind from 1968 now. Y TYPE BLIND 1968 * ASTON BAKEWELL BAMFORD BARNSLEY BASLOW BRADFORD BUXTON CALVER CASTLETON CHAPELTOWN CHESTERFIELD CITY DEEPCAR DERBY DEWSBURY DINNINGTON DONCASTER DRONFIELD ECKINGTON EYAM SHEFFIELD GAINSBOROUGH HALIFAX HATHERSAGE HIGH GREEN HOLMESFIELD HUDDERSFIELD KILLAMARSH KIVETON PARK LEEDS * MALTBY MANCHESTER MANSFIELD MARSH LANE MEXBOROUGH MOSBOROUGH NOTTINGHAM PENISTONE RETFORD ROTHERHAM SHEFFIELD SOUTH ANSTON STOCKSBRIDGE SWALLOWNEST UPTON WAKEFIELD WOMBWELL WORKSOP DUPLICATE EXCURSION PRIVATE SERVICE NO SPECIAL * Notice the destinations for DERBY, MANSFIELD & NOTTINGHAM. As originally planned the White Rose express network would have been a cross these lines with East Midland, Trent, Midland General and Chesterfield coming in as joint partners. They couldn't agree, so it went ahead without them. Leicester was also a possibility, with Midland Red becoming involved! Also notice the strict alphabetical order and the lack of a LOWER WALKLEY display. Most people know that coaches were 'run in' on the 31 to free up any problems, so its omission is strange. Also, no destinations for the 8 and 9 - so the SERVICE NO destination was used - unusually for STD the number blind was on the right (as you look at the front of the bus).
